You have a link to the Kreuzspitze tele cable system near the top of this page. It directs me to a page that does indeed have lots of K parts for tele systems. But it doesn't have any of the actual Tele Cable assemblies. Do those still exist? Thanks.

Hi Pablo,
As with any telemark binding, "safe enough" is rather subjective, but yes, it is possible to release laterally. There are, however, no certifications of any kind promising consistent release with the cable on and you will not vertically release from this binding. I would not rely on it if you are concerned about protecting a sensitive injury, but it has released me during a fall before.

I'm considering buying these and combine with some Voilé cables I have lying around (standard springs as far as I know) an an old Dynafit TLT toe. The only thing that worries me is that I like to ski very low. Will the spring travel be enough with my size 28 Scarpa TX Pro for really deep tele stance?

Björn, great question. The Voilé cables are easier to bottom out when making deep telemark turns. The Kreuzspitze tele cable system will have a longer spring that allows a deeper turn without feeling the bottom. In general softer the springs are the more spring travel you will be able to use. Since getting a lower stance is important I would recommend getting the Kreuzpitze tele cable system in the regular or soft spring options.

Tony, great question! You will not be able to use crampons with either toe piece because the Telealp plate will be in the way. You will, however, be able to add the Kreuszpitze crampon attachment directly to the Telealp plate.here is a link to the Kreuszpitze crampon attachment.

Ordered the Kreuzspitze Tele Tech kit . Will be assembling a Tele Tech set up as a project for next season. Seeking advice on deciding upon a tech toe to use. What Brand do you think Works best? Do the Kreuzspitze tech toes work well? Will be using this set up predominantly for backcountry .

Hey Tony, thanks for reaching out and glad to hear you will be finding freeheel bliss with the Kreuzspitze kit! While the Kreuzspitze toes are pretty much the best thing going if you like a simple, trouble-free race-style toe piece, you are putting some different forces on the binding with telemark turns and may want a binding toe with particularly strong retention for that reason. I would take a look at either the Plum Guide toe piece or the Ski Trab Gara Titan toe piece, both of which would fit the pre-drilled holes on the TeleAlp kit. The Guide toe has a multi-position lockout that may function better when you're putting angled pressure on the ski in variable snow conditions, while the Gara Titan uses an innovative titanium spring design to create high levels of retention even in neutral (unlocked) mode. The caveat is of course that we are not as dialed on our telemark binding systems as we are on our randonnee bindings (we essentially sell the TeleAlp as a one-off), so my recommendations are just that, and not based in in-depth research or testing. I mounted these adapters for use with Dynafit radical toes (old grey plastic ones). and DB cobra cables/springs that I already had laying around. This review is my impression of mounting the system and a handful of ski days on them.
Mounting: This adapter is very easy to mount as there is only one piece to mount for a ski. The Wasatch TTS binding uses a stand alone toe and cable plate so there are 2 entities to align. I mounted these myself on planks previously housing 22-Designs Outlaw bindings. Earnyourturns has a template showing the various mounting patterns superimposed so I had a solid reference, and drilling holes was easy.
Skiing: This system is telemark perfection!!!
The only other tele binding I skied is the 22D Outlaw, so it's my baseline for a comparison.
Tech toes upfront provide such a solid and secure grasp on the toes that I doubt even duckbills can compete.
Zero side to side slop. Zero vertical slop. Instant engagement, smooth spring tension.
The old fashioned cartridge springs offer a glorious tele sensation, I finally understand why so many refused to jump on the NTN wagon. The DB cable hooks wobble and come off the pivot rod if left dangling, but I secured the hooks with twist ties that seem to work ok.
This adapter is the key to the perfect tele binding system. All of the benefits of tech, all the liberated heels of telemark. Pure granola free heel glory.

Can these bindings be converted on the fly from tele to AT and vice-versa or is it strictly a TTS system?

Hey Colin, the Telemark Kit is (usually) a telemark-tech-only system as it involves mounting the TeleAlp adapter between the binding toe and the ski. I think the only way to swap between free- and locked-heel skiing would be to use Quiver Killers under the toe piece and carry two different screw lengths to remove the TeleAlp when you want to switch over.

Colin, the answer is yes if you also get the heel spacers (see the Kreuzspitze Telemark Parts page on this site) and some Kreuzspitze heels -- then you just need to remove the tele cables to go from tele to AT.

Can someone clarify which tech toes work with these plates? Someone told me only five-hole 30x27 legacy Dynafit toes work... but the forward set of holes seems to suggest they'll work with the newer four-hole 30x39. Thanks in advance!

Hey Sam, more modern Dynafit toes with the 30x39 pattern you mention will work just fine with the TeleAlp system. Traditionally the tele-tech crowd has preferred a five-hole-pattern toe due to assumptions of increased binding retention.

Max, the Voile system is compatible with the Kreuzspitze kit, yes! The two go together like peanut butter and jelly, telemarkers and wool hats, Wasatch powder and northern-Italian engineering. Dynafit toe pieces are the banana slices between the PB&J, the catalyst for those ~soulful~ tele-tech-system turns, the SkimoCo that brings the good stuff to you. Use the Kreuzspitze tele kit, Voile Switchback springs, and tech-toe inserts all together for the ultimate in heel-liberation technology!

Your write-up says these match G3 6-hole pattern. I seem to recall that the old standard Voile 4-hole pattern also matches the G3 pattern, which just has two extra holes. But I'm not sure whether they match up in terms of the position (fore/aft) on the ski.
I have skis mounted with Voile CRBs. If I want to replace them with the Kreuzspitze set-up, will I be able to use the same holes?

Eric, Good question, we do not currently have one to measure exactly. We will update the website as soon as we get the next shipment in. I do think you will be able to use the same holes and just add 2 more.

Hey Jeff, thanks for reaching out! There are a lot of factors that go into it (cartridge length, forward lean setting in your boot, rearward placement of the tech fittings, height and clearance of the boot shell in relation to the pins in the toe piece, etc), however the short answer is: no, unfortunately not. You could probably configure it to get pretty close, however, the distance from knee to ski at the lowest point will vary a bit based on those factors.
