Pomoca Free Pro 2.0 Skins
The 'Free' in 'Free Pro 2.0' is there because these skins are so light, you might become confused while skinning and believe that you've floated free from the constraints of gravity. The Pomoca Free Pro 2.0 skins are a 70/30 mohair blend sewn onto an ultra-thin, ultra-packable backing material. Sprinkled with Pomoca's industry topping waterproof coating and shipped with a traditional tip basket and elastic tail strap, these skins have turned heads throughout the ski world and have inspired many ski mountaineers to make the switch to pink skins. Pomoca set out to build a skin that would appeal to ski mountaineers with their light weight, and appeal to freeskiers with their width. The Pomoca Free Pro 2.0 ticks all the boxes you need to summit a mountain in the morning and to charge a spine in the afternoon.
- At 123mm or 140mm wide, these skins fit the fattest powder skis and come with a quick trimming tool to customize for the most efficient skinning experience.
- Grams add up, and with that in mind, Pomoca used SSL (Safer Skin Light) membranes, cutting roughly 12% or 60-75g of weight from each pair of skins.
- Pomoca Ever Dry 2.0 is more environmentally friendly than the original Ever Dry, and coats the entire skin in a hydrophobic layer.
- The metal Fat Lock tip clip fits any ski, and doesn't require a pinhole or notch -- it just clips over the front of the ski.
- Ultra-thin backing material means the skins pack down into a tiny package that fits in many jacket pockets.
- The way Pomoca weaves their fibers ensures longevity, glide and most importantly, grip.
- A 90mm elastic strap on the tail of the skin adjusts easily for length and offers reliable hold.
Update 2020/21: The skins are now made with redesigned Click Lock tip attachments and tail hooks that enhance durability and versatility. Packaged in a cool new zippered case, these skins have the same climbing prowess and amazing glue that one expects from the Pomoca name.

The latest skin update from Pomoca is even better. The glue sticks all day long even in sub zero snow after your 9th lap in cold pow. Somehow they still pull apart without a fight. They weigh less than any other skin I’m aware of so less weight on your feet means more quality skin. And they are more supple and pack up much smaller so they take up less space under your jacket or in your pack. They’ve got that slick mohair glide to get in and out of long approaches easily. After deliberating over skins for years I don’t even think twice anymore. And they still last as long as any other mohair skin I’ve abused on the wind blown CO tundra . The free pro two is the one.

Looking at these and the Glide S Pro:
- Those who have used both, is there a noticeable difference in grip?
- Durability - has anyone experienced ripping or tearing? I would like these to last ~3 pairs of skis (this is the lifespan I have had on previous skins)
- Weight/packability, I hear the the S-Glide Pro has a lighter backing this year, has anyone compared the two new versions?

Charlie- There is no difference in grip between the 2 skins. They have the same plush composition and hair length. The free pro 2.0 has thinner backing which is lighter and more packability including the new s glide (which is thinner). Durability is pretty good on the Free pro. The free pro if pushed and skinned on rocks might tear sooner than the s-glide.

What’s the durability difference between these and the Climb pro S-glide? Is it significant given the thinner backing? I.e. will they not last as many seasons?

Winston, The Free Pro 2.0 just came out last season, so time will tell. I got a pair at the beginning of last season and used it all season. Not discernable wear yet. I do try to be careful walking over rocks and logs. This season's Climb Pro S Glide was switched to a lighter backing too.

Hey Winston, the backing is thinner so it may be slightly less durable, but I think they should last you just as long. Just maybe be a bit more gentle when touring over thin cover areas.

Hello, my ski length is 180cm and tail width is 126mm (136/106/126mm). Would the 123mm x 165-180cm work or would I want to wait till the 123mm x 175-190cm is in stock?

Hey Sam, that 165-180cm may work for you, although since ski companies can be a little unique in how they measure the lenght of their skis there is the chance that your skis will be just a smidge too long. Unfortunately, we will not be getting any more of these skins in this season. The other option you have is to buy the material off the roll here, buy some tip and tail attachments that you can choose from here and build them to fit your skis.

Wife's skis are Vantage 97's in 164cm length. Will you be getting the 155-170cm length of 123's in stock anytime soon? If not, will the 165-180cm work? Can the tip be removed and cut to shorter length?

Logan, More than enough. My method is to take the Tail width, 120mm, minus 4mm for the edges. So you will have Full coverage except for a tiny amount at the widest part of the tip.

I am looking for the right skins for my Head Kore 117 180cm. I find it pretty difficult to get reliable on point information about skins. Would the pro 2.0 be a great fit for my ski? If so, I would just attach them to my skis and than cut the sides with the trimmer you provide, right?

Hey Felix thanks for reaching out! We typically choose skin width based on the ski's tail because you don't get as much benefit in the tip(most grip comes from closer to the foot). I looked up dimensions for that ski and I think the tail is around 129mm, and after subtracting a couple mm from each side to account for the metal edges, that puts us right around the 123mm skin width. I'd recommend the 123mm x 175-190cm option for this ski, hope this helps!

If you are reading this, the Free Pro 2.0 is back in stock, buy right away. I used all last season in all conditions and on a wide ski, they work great. No doubt they are as light and packable a skin you can get. After many years using BD skins, I love Pomoca glue. I can actually pull apart without using skin savers and they stick fine on the ski. Even with the tail clip kicked off, the glue keeps in place just fine.
In the spring on an icy skin track, I have experienced some slippage. When it gets wet, I have only experienced minimal glopping, the Pomoca treatments work well.

I'm looking for some free pro 2.0 skins for my 184cm powder skis, the dimensions are 141 - 116 - 131, but I can't find the L size skins in a 140mm. However, there is an L size skin in the 123mm width, which would actually cover my bases (with sidewall's worth of base exposed) over ~60% of the middle of the ski. Since my tips and tails are fairly rockered anyways, does anyone see significant drawbacks from just going with that size and losing a bit of edge-to-edge coverage in the tips and tails, especially if I will mostly be powder touring?

The 123mm wide skins in the 185-200cm size would work and give you plenty of glide and grip. With a tail width of 126mm on your skis you will have coverage where you need it (underfoot) and allow for extra glide with more exposed base in the tip of the ski. Hope this helps!

I would go with the 123mm wide skin in the 155-170cm length; this will give you the best glide with plenty of grip. If you want to maximize grip go with the 165-180cm length as that will give coverage almost all the way to the tail of the ski. Have fun out there!

Hey George, the size Medium will work great for your 'birds -- the Pomoca tail clip runs a centimeter or two longer than advertised, so you'll have more than enough length to reach from beak to feather, er, tip to tail of the ski.

I only have 5000'/4 laps on these, but I think they're the best skins I've ever used. Surprisingly light and packable (much more so than BD Glidelite, e.g.), great grip and glide, and nice attachment. I did manage to bend one tip loop when I whacked it with my other ski tip; I bent it back, but if it breaks I will have to update this review. Also the pink coating on the tip loops is not very durable, but I don't really care. Glue seems to be just the right amount of sticky, so ripping skins with skis on easy but the skins don't fall off.
