Overall: Five Stars for an excellent skimo race pack that can also be used for “real” touring. Background on product familiarity: I bought the very first version of the RC 20 and used it for a season of training, racing, and real tours too. I eventually sold it when both the Dynafit Broad Peak 28-liter pack became my top choice for springtime tours and the lighter CAMP Rapid 260 became available for lighter-duty applications. First, the first impressions out of the box: If you haven’t yet used other ...

Overall: Five Stars for a skimo race pack that is pretty much perfect for, well, skimo racing! Also great for ski touring when you don’t need to carry sharps or any other hard objects (for which better choices are available, including CAMP’s own Rapid Racing). Fine for off-snow uses too, although probably would flop around a bit too much for really fast trail running. Background on product familiarity: I bought my Rapid 260 pack in Fall 2011 and have used it for many hundreds of thousands of vertical f...

Overall: Five Stars for an adjustable ski touring pole with the lightest weight on the market yet still with a secure adjustment mechanism and a full-sized basket. So also a great alternative for racing if you don’t want to ski down with really long fixed-length nordic-style poles. Only possible caveats could be durability of the thin shaft diameter and the all-plastic adjustment mechanism? Background on product familiarity: I bought these over the summer on some sort of mistaken close-out deal, but al...

Five Stars for a ski strap with outstanding multi-use applications. I had previously thought that Voile ski straps were the province of tele hippies (especially the types for whom falling down on every other turn was half the fun of backcountry skiing), as I favored those padded foam velcro ski straps from my alpine ski racing background. But then I realized all the multi-use applications for these straps. In addition to all the in-the-field gear repair solutions I’ve seen, I’ve used these for great impr...

Overall: Five Stars for the perfect hydration solution on long tours with frequent refills from natural water sources. Also an excellent solution for whenever you don’t want a hydration bladder and hose yet still want more convenient sipping than from a bottle stored in your pack or dangling at your waist. Background on product familiarity: I liked the version that comes with Dynafit packs so much that I bought the CAMP bottle holder for another pack. At the time CAMP was not distributing the bottle in...
