I fold the Race 290's in half, put them in my pack - often in the lid, impossible to do with regular crampons - and forget about them on a tour. That is, until I need them! They're light and extremely unobtrusive. Unlike the usual crampon setup in which a metal bar connects the heel and toe pieces, the Dyneema allows easy folding, which gets the frontpoints under control. I drooled over these for a while before getting them. Once they arrived, I wasn't disappointed. Light as a feather. Stiff as a 2 x 4. They ski awesome, powering little and mid-size (88 mm underfoot) skis just fine. I haven't used them on wider pow planks, yet. The liner comes out of the boot on your foot. In fact, it's impossible to get your foot out of the liner without taking it out of the boot. Basically, the liner fits like a sock. Thus, I've had no blisters, ever, in these boots. Two seasons ago, I skied these skis all over the Wasatch, in conditions ranging from deep pow to ice and everything in-between. The sidecut coupled with the razor sharp edge is sufficient to hold an edge on pretty steep terrain in less-than-phat conditions. The flex is WAY stiffer than you'd imagine a ski this light (or diminutive) could ever offer. Thank the carbon fiber for that!
