Overview
Mount Baker is a PNW classic, kinda feels like Mount Rainier's little brother with less vert and objective hazard, but still a real beauty requiring all the ski mountaineering skills. There are many skiable aspects with several long and moderate runs like the Coleman/Deming Route and Easton Glacier, or you can spice it up on the steep Park Glacier Headwall. And if you're into long walks in the mountains you can link up the Park Glacier headwall with a traverse to the Mount Baker Ski Area to complete this "classic" traverse of the area.
Skier access
To access the Coleman/Demming trailhead-
Parking permits are required, acquire them at the ranger station in Glacier. Drive along highway 542 to the cute little town of Glacier. Continue heading towards Mount Baker ski area and turn right on the forest road 39. Follow the bumpy dirt road road along Glacier Creek. The snow-line will determine how far you can go and where you can park. Many people "camp" at the trailhead, but there is little flat ground and no real camping spots, so deal with it. Keep heading up the road till you get to the trailhead sign and go from there.
