Extremely useful device for abseiling and belaying when using very narrow 6-7.5mm ropes; particularly for skitouring, mountaineering and glacier travel. You MUST spend time testing it and getting used to it. A backup Prussik is highly recommended when single-roping. I also notice that the Mammut setup doesn't quite give you enough friction single roping, but putting the rope back through the 'crab you have the Nano8 on forces the rope to drag across itself, adding more friction. Mammut publishes the diameter range on the actual device, not to mention in their downloadable manual too! They list it as suitable for 6 - 7.5mm ropes. I own one, for use with the super-slippery 6mm Petzl RAD line. It works incredibly well, though you MUST spend time testing it and getting used to it.
