There are few places on the planet like Tuckerman Ravine in spring. if you’re looking for a quiet solitary backcountry experience, this is not the place to go. It’s more like spring break including the drinking and scantily clad youths. But, that’s just the scene, let's get back to describing the line and the skiing. This is a great big open headwall with lots of descent options. Most of the lines are quite steep, but don’t last that long. They are all very straightforward in that what you see is what you get and you can see and get them all quite easily. Conditions can vary, but with many aspects to choose from there good odds of finding the goods. Wet slides in the spring can be a real hazard as well as your fellow skiers falling and flailing down the mountain. Enjoy!
Park at the Pinkham Notch visitor center where the trail starts and is well marked. Follow this well established trail through the thick trees staying left at any branches to avoid heading into Huntington Ravine. The trail passes Dodges Cabin, then continues up the basin over a few steep bumps and opens up into the headwall. From here most folks climb up the long north facing “Left Gully” from here you can access traverse out and access most of the lines.
