This line is about as iconic of a Coloradoan line as you can get. This peak has graced the cover of Coors cans and you’d have to be drunk to not want to ski it. The prime-time line off the summit is a long and exposed one that lies to the Northeast. It begins on an open face that can be very rocky. It’s possible to ski down the ridge to the skiers left in order to avoid cutting onto this large potential starting zone. Cliffs force the skiing to the right or center of the run where it gets steep and potentially rocky. This transitions into a couloir that continues down the mountain for a good while allowing some rhythm and plenty of pull outs to hide while your partner skis and avoid getting sluffed out. The line then opens up with a few chute options, but trend to the right for the cleanest and easiest escape. Some of the chutes cliff out, but they are easy to view from top down and avoid. The apron skiing is a refreshing finish with great views back up at this beautiful rugged mountain descent. Go get yourself a beer, maybe a Coors!
It’s complicated with some private property issues. I could copy and paste, but that’s plagerism. Google it, or follow the link below. https://www.summitpost.org/wilson-peak/150382
Rocky choke after the upper face
This line is very rocky and doesn’t fill in nicely every season. Get some nice binoculars and give the face a good scoping before you get into it so you’ll have a good idea of conditions. There are some good vantage points just outside of Telluride, and also on the drive in.
