So, to follow up on my own question, I now have an answer. I threaded the tail hooks backwards. The way they are supposed to go allows the hook to go over the back of the ski and use pressure to release it. Problem resolved!

The issue is not the glue, it's the actual plastic piece at the tail. When the clip pictured is attached to the ski it's really difficult to get off. The white strap has no give and there is a dip in the tail so you can barely slide it off. I put the skins on tip to tail, and when I get to the tail I have to do micro adjustments on the white strap and black buckle to get it tight. My Black Diamond skins have a tail connection with some stretch in it, so this wasn't an issue. Am I missing something about the...

Is there a trick for getting these skins off the skis? The white strap for the tail buckle doesn't have much stretch, so it's really hard to get it off when it's cold.
