Dynastar Vertical Eagle Ski

Discontinued

Eagle is the common name for many large birds of prey of the family Accipitridae. The Dynastar Vertical Eagle is the tool of choice for “ski mountaineers of prey” of the family Skimo Co. Full sidewall construction ensures its beak will bite, no matter the snow conditions. The feather-weight offers the capability of flying deep into the mountains. The Vertical Eagle wants to sink its claws into steep descents, icy couloirs, and even perfect powder. This bird of prey is ready to hunt, and your ticklist is what’s for dinner.

  • Cell and Paulownia wood core delivers excellent surface-to-weight ratio.
  • 5-point sidecut offers a variety of turn shapes and excellent precision.
  • Sandwich construction optimizes edge-grip, power, and durability.
  • Early rise tip eases turn initiation and maneuverability.
  • Birdfeed not included.

Update 2018/19: Graphic update, the ski remains the same otherwise.

Question from Nathan

How do these compare to the Backland UL 85? Mostly curious about durability and all powder performance.

Answer from Jeff

Nathan, our panel of Expert users say - Powder performance is pretty equal. Durability gives the Atomic UL 85 a slight edge.

Question from Braun

Are these as torsionally rigid as the Scott speedguide 95 or Goode Carbon 106 or are they more like the Dynafit Cabonio's (or between)?
5/20/2019
Answer from Jeff

Braun, The Vertical Eagle is as torsionally rigid as anything else in its class. Being narrower then the Speedguide 95 and the Goode 106 and a mountaineering ski, it is stiffer then either of those.

Question from Dan

How do these ski on the downhill in comparison to the Blizzard Zero G 85?
5/20/2019
Answer from Jeff

Daniel, We would say this is a more well rounded skiing ski then the Zero G. With a bit of tip rocker and more sidecut, the Eagle will float more and likes to finish turns better then the Zero G.
