Can these be carefully cut to a more specific length?

I have an older pair of the Superlight 2.0 (green heel piece). Just confused a little on which 175 Z I need--the 6 or 8. Thanks for your help here!

I'm truthfully a little amazed there's no comments/issues on the severity of the heel cup in this boot. The ridge/lip of the heel is wicked, causing lots of rubbing, pain. For someone, who has had incredible luck with the Alien line of boots, I'm not sure why the issue with the 3.0. I know of a few others who are having the same issue. I've tried everything with foam, inserts, all to no avail. The downhill performance of this boot is SO uber, that I'm not quite ready to let them go. Anyone out there ...

What's my best option to replace a cord for the 3.0 (43.0)? Thanks!
