Each year I become more convinced that highly rockered wide - but not too wide - skis are the best tools for Vermont backcountry terrain (aka steep tight trees). How do these compare to the Voile V6 for tight tree skiing. Any other recommendations? Looking for good pivoting, slashing, and tips that stay high in the snow.

So I am torn between the Scarpa Alien 1.0 (not the newest) and the Dynafit Mezzalama 1.0. Seems like the Scarpa has slightly better dowhill performance. How does uphill performance and transition speed compare? Also for a moderately high arch (narrow to moderate width) does Scarpa have better chance of fitting well without modifying?

Long time backcountry skier, new to racing. This ski looks loke a good option being raceable but more variable conditions friendly. Two questions: A) at 6’3” and 195 lbs what length do I want? The 168 cm I am guessing, but race skis are very short so double checking. B) what boots and bindings would go well with this binding for race plus fast and long tours in challenging terrain?
