Atomic Shift 2 MN 10 Binding
Featuring several improvements over the first Shift, the Atomic Shift2 MN 10 binding from Atomic is a welcome upgrade. The toe wings and lever have been reinforced with more material to increase durability, and the brake lever has been similarly strengthened to better keep the brakes locked up for climbing. The new AFD with an aluminum Power Block sees upgrades in micro-adjustability, power transfer, and lateral stiffness. Finally, the climbing riser has been raised by 4mm to make steep touring more efficient in beefy hybrid boots. And, hybrid setups are where the Shift 2 will shine like a diamond. With its TÜV certification, the Shift2 is a fully-fledged alpine binding that can handle in-bounds skiing, but the toe piece can be switched to uphill mode to expose toe pins that allow for friction-free and efficient touring performance. Compared to other touring bindings that convert to alpine bindings for skiing, the Shift2 doesn't require keeping part of the binding in your pack or pocket while ascending, eliminating the possibility of dropping your toe piece into fresh powder while making your transition much faster. Whether you're building a resort setup that is side-country capable, or want to charge through the backcountry with no holds barred, the Atomic Shift2 MNC 10 is a safe and high-performance binding worth your consideration.
- Toe pins allow for easier and more efficient touring relative to a frame binding.
- Climbing riser has been raised for easier uphill travel with beefier boots.
- Integrated toe means faster transitions and no risk of losing an integral part of the toe piece, unlike some of the other guys.
- Oversized toe wings and tour lever increase durability and longevity compared to the original.
- Micro-adjustable AFD with an aluminum Power Block offers better performance through increased adjustment and lateral stiffness.
