Karpos Ramezza Pant

Discontinued

Oftentimes, the phrase 'daily driver' is used when describing objects which possess attributes that allow them to fit our ordinary tasks so perfectly that we find ourselves using them on a nearly daily basis. For the garden variety backcountry skier, the Karpos Ramezza pants are the ideal daily drivers for most days in the backcountry (daily driver pants, that is). The Ramezza's are made of two types of fabric, with a thicker windproof material on the knees, seat, and front of legs, and a lighter more breathable material covering the upper back of the legs and front of hips. Both fabrics are DWR coated and are made to stretch and flex seamlessly. A zip in the lower cuff opens to expand a gusset, making for quick and simple buckle adjustment. The Karpos Ramezza pants strike a nearly perfect balance between protection and performance, and will quickly become your go-to ski pants. So what are you waiting for? Your new favorite pants are waiting!

  • Karpos' DWR coated K-Stretch fabric feels magical, flexing and stretching with you while effectively repelling rain, wind, and snow.
  • Cordura panels on the inside of the lower leg help avoid damage from pointy crampons and sharp ski edges.
  • Three pockets (two in the front, one in the back) offer plenty of storage for all the important goodies.
  • For a fully waterproof Gore-Tex pant, take a look at the Karpos Jorasses Plus Pant.
  • An external elastic waistband makes for quick and easy waist adjustment.

Zak M (downright abused product)

The non-baggy, but not skimo spandex look is usually what I strive to find in an everyday backcountry pant. Throw in some relative durability, a DWR outer material, and pockets to fit a beacon and I am sold. So when the 20/21 season rolled around and I was meticulously scouring Skimo Co to see what new pants they had, the Karpos Ramezza stood out as a clear winner. Possessing some burlier than average thighs but with 32/33-inch waist I found the size 50 to be right on the money. I found the pants to be not so much a “slim” fit as the description dictates but rather athletic, which was a pleasant surprise as I found the overall fit to be looser than several other pants in the same category. I tend to run quite warm and dislike to wear any long underwear base layers, so the Ramezza pant was a nice balance for our mild winters in the Wasatch and even an excursion to the Grand Teton for a rather cold late April day. The simple drawstring closure on the waist does just fine with holding up the pants and the cuff closure on the ankle works well. The only reason I decided to give the pants 4/5 stars was the button on the ankle cuff closer sometimes prematurely opens up and isn’t the most secure, and unfortunately, the zipper on the pants pocket decided to bust open near the end of the winter. Overall I'd suggest the Ramezza Pant to anyone who is looking for no-frills, not super slim-fitting softshell touring pant.
