Hi, I find these incredibly sticky. They're annoying to handle, especially if it's windy and it sticks to itself.
I've only used them a few times; does the glue calm down after a few goes, or is this going to be sticky for a while?
The Peak Mohair Mix is the workhorse in the Kohla family of high-performance climbing skins. Designed for use and abuse in rough snow (glaciers, on-piste), the grip and durability will keep you happy just about anywhere, but the impressive glide will get you there in a hurry. A perfectly balanced 65/35 blend of mohair and nylon is roughly the standard in mohair-mix skins. This skin is material is available off the roll at any length you want. Skins are 135mm wide and sold by the centimeter (make sure to order enough material for both of your skis).
- Water-resistant fluorocarbon additives have been impregnated in the hairs for superb glide for the life of the skin.
- Polyester-cotton backing material is light, water-resistant, and very pliable for compact folding.
- More durable mohair/nylon mix is perfect for rough snow found on piste or glaciers.
- Solvent-free hot-melt glue won’t incinerate your nose hairs when it’s time to re-glue.
ORDERING NOTE: These skins are sold by the centimeter (cm), meaning you should type in the Qty field the length (in cm) of skin you want for one ski “times two” for a PAIR. Unless you are making a backup skin, then just times it by one.

Hi Robert, these do handle better over time. For skins that are too sticky out of the box, I like to drop the skins in snow (glue side down) before a tour which makes it better for the day.

Can these Kohla Mohair Mix skins be cut in half to make narrower skins or do they have a different/glueless strip down the middle that would make that a bad idea? Thanks.

These skins do indeed have the glue backing all the way across. In terms of cutting a skin in half, it is possible, but takes a steady hand if you are looking to create super straight cuts. Have fun out there!
