My Skiing

Central Colorado is home, so lots of low angle pow laps on deep facets for most of the season. Come spring I ski as many high peaks as time allows. 95% of my skiing is touring, powered by my own legs. I enjoy making trips to search out good snow and plumb lines. I have skied the Wasatch, Tetons, Alaska and Chamonix, among many areas in my home of Colorado. Currently I am working towards skiing all the CO 14ers. I like all types of skiing, pow laps, cruising groomers, long corn runs, steep tech lines, as well as crud, variable and mank. Whatever gets me out there. I try to ski as many quality ski runs as I can manage each season.

My Gear

As many of us are; I've been told by those close to me that I have a ski problem. This is some of the gear I use regularly and enjoy (no particular order);

DPS Lotus 138 (192cm), Black Crows Corvus Freebird (188cm), Atomic Backland 95 (185cm), Ski Trab Magico (178cm), Ski Trab Gara Aero (171cm flex 70)

Mastrale RS, Dynafit TLT6P, Alien RS, PDG

Kingpin, Dynafit FT 2.0, Dynafit Superlite, Trab Titan Vario, Trab Gara Titan

Hey Anthony O, sounds like you are not using the longer heel lever from your F1 XT; would you be willing to sell me the pair of longer levers from your XT's? I'm looking for replacement levers, but haven't been able to find the individual parts yet from Skimo or Scarpa (maybe the boot is too new in the US?). Anyways, if you're willing comment back and I'll see if SkimoCo can put us in touch. Thanks.

"Stiffer Gara Aero's" should read 70 flex. I'm not commenting that the Aero's are stiffer than the Merelli. They both feel sufficiently stiff and supportive for large, aggressive skiing.

Recently upgraded my race setup to these Mlimited skis, which Merelli now calls the "hybrid" construction. They must be referring to a hybrid of carbon and awesome! Paired with a PG full carbon boot and trab titan binders; this is one light yet powerful race setup. As one of the larger humans in the spandex skiing world I went with the 166cm length. While the extreme lightness of these skis is quickly apparent, the performance is what really shines. These skis railed groomers, staying stable way beyond...

I was really impressed with these skins. I wanted a full mohair for my new powder boards and these fit the bill. These have great glide, I'd say significantly better than any mohair mix skins I've ever used. The glue really impressed me; released from the skins very easily, yet held strong for 5 laps in cold temps on a recent outing. I'm a huge Pomoca fan and have used those on most of my skis, but now I may have a new favorite! One downside, you only get a single tip bar size, so if these don't fit yo...
