Bought these to see if the quiver of one glove is possible and I'm happy to report that it is! While I still keep a thick pair of mitts in my pack, most tours I never change out of these gloves/mitts. If I'm too warm on the way up in the gloves, I can probably just take them off and be fine. It's also a huge advantage on cold windy summits to not have to take off your uphill gloves and lose all of that heat just to put your downhill gloves on! For that reason alone, I think they beat out heavier weight gloves for just the downhill. I'd rather keep all my heat and be able to add another layer of insulation! They do wet out pretty fast digging pits, so I do bring a dedicated pair of waterproof digging gloves.

How do these compare to the previous version? The cover on mine is fairly torn, and the cover was a bit snugger fit, so always been nervous pulling it over my fingers.
From the photos, it looks more robust but hard to tell. Does the cover still store above the wrist?
Thanks!

Hey Dan,
The overmitt portion of the glove is definitely more robust (less of a tissue paper feel) and slightly more insulated. The cover on the current model is stored on the underside of the wrist and is easier to pull over your hand, removing the feeling that you could rip it in the process.
