All-weather, all the time. When you’re trying to decide what gear to grab really early in the morning, even when making coffee sounds difficult, make your life easy and go with the Free Infinium Hybrid Pant. Utilizing GORE-TEX INFINIUM with WINDSTOPPER technology, these pants are highly resilient to inclement weather, perfect for harvesting powder in the midst of a storm. Selectively placed Dynastretch inserts in the waistband and behind the knees allow perspiration to escape, helping keep you warm and dry. Mesh-lined thigh zips cool you off quickly, and if left open during bouts of extreme sun, cause a pretty nifty tan line to form. There’s plenty of room for snacks in two large zip pockets on the front of the thighs and the reinforced hem provides protection from errant ski edges. Suspenders and a relaxed fit might let you blend into the resort crowd for a while until the Dynafit logos give you away! For something that you can rely on day after day in a variety of conditions, go for the Free Infinium Hybrid Pant from Dynafit.

  • Combination of GORE-TEX INFINIUM with WINDSTOPPER and Dynastretch softshell material gives you the best of both worlds: breathability and weather protection.
  • Thigh zips dump excess heat, perfect for warm Spring days.
  • Snow gaiter and adjustable gusseted leg openings with reinforced hems play well with freeride boots.
  • Suspenders and a relaxed fit are comfortable for all-day skiing and provide enough room to layer.
  • Two zipped thigh pockets and a smartphone pocket allow you to keep things close at hand.
  • Adjustable waistband lets you compensate after a day of indulgence.

Question from Carl Detwyler

I have a question about sizing. I wear waist size 33" in street clothes pants with a 30" inseam. What size should I order? I am looking for a general touring pant, no skimo racing for me!

Hi Carl,

These pants run a bit large in the waist, due to the conversion from EU to US size. I am a 29-30 inch waist, and an XS is slightly big on me there (perfect everywhere else). I would probably go with a US Small in this pant for you. Dynafit's size chart says it should fit a 33-34" waist, and that is pretty congruent with my experience.

Good pants! I also had to size up to the XL (I usually wear size 34 waisted pants) and am very happy with the baggier fit. I feel that the baggier fit allows me to move more freely. One point that I really like about these pants, is that they are one of the first waterproof-ish pants that I can wear comfortably without an underlayer.

The feature set is truly perfect. This is all a pair of ski pants needs to be. Belt loops, two large-ish pockets positioned high on the thigh, with one pocket that includes a tie-in loop and carry sleeve for an avalanche beacon. The only thing I'd change, is that there should be no mesh in the vents. I cut the mesh out of mine after the second tour I wore them on. Let your legs breathe!!

I agree with Tom, I'd love to see Dynafit make these pants in a lighter color. It is very nice to have a pant that isn't black when the sun is out and you're slogging uphill.

Overall, these are a solid pant for all-around ski touring. I feel like we need more "baggy" options these days. I don't like depending on my pants to stretch in order to be able to move freely. In addition, I feel that the pants last longer when they are not forced to stretch with every step. Would recommend!

I've used these pants for ~9 Spring ski tours in CO ranging from winter-like powder conditions to bootpacking & skiing corn. They are the best touring pants that I've had so far - I like the locations that they put the Gore-tex Infinium on the knees and butt. They are fairly light and fit comfortably. I am typically a size US large, but sized up to US XL because I didn't like the tightening at the knee and pant flaring. XL and synching the waist resolved my problems.

My only gripe, hence the 4 stars, is that they don't offer them in a lighter color that's not "blueberry". You can definitely feel the dark colored pants heating up pretty quick. If they release a new colorway in khaki (like the matching jacket), I like them enough that I would re-buy.

Question from David W Farrell

Hi Folks,

I live on Colorado's Front Range, so I'll be skiing RMNP and the I-70 corridor mostly. What do you think of the Dynafit Free Infinium Hybrid Pants as an all-around backcountry rig? I like the suspenders. They keep the pants up and the snow out. If not these pants, would have another preference?

Thanks,

Dave Farrell

Answer from Carlos M

Hi Dave,

These would be great pants for touring in cold conditions where you might see wind and lots of dry snow, but not enough moisture to justify GoreTex. They are designed with a more freeride-oriented fit and are more protective than more skimo-type softshells while still being quite a bit more breathable than a hardshell on the way up. I also like the suspenders! I think they'd be a great choice.
