Edelrid Salathe Lite Helmet
Combining the light nature of EPP (Expanded Polypropylene) with a unique Curv thermoplastic shell, the Edelrid Salathe Lite helmet is a svelte and comfortable climbing and ski mountaineering helmet perfect for weight-conscious ski tourers in alpine environments. The Curv shell is a hard plastic formed around the impact points of the helmet, which offers the dual benefit of adding to the helmet's impact resistance and protecting the EPP foam from abrasion and minor dings. While the Salathe Lite is not certified for alpine skiing, it does offer enhanced side and back impact protection compared to other climbing helmets, allowing it to possess a climbing and ski touring certification. This blend of weight and protection makes it great for ski mountaineers looking for the ventilation and comfort of a climbing helmet, but with a bit more protection should you unexpectedly find yourself up close and personal with a tree. In another nod to skiers (and high-altitude mountaineers), the shell of the helmet and rear attachment bungee are designed to be compatible with ski goggles as well as headlamps. From spring mountaineering descents to dedicated powder laps in the winter, the Salathe Lite will gladly go along.
