Trends repeat every generation or so, sometimes every couple of generations - like the resurging popularity of Telemark skiing! For those of you just getting into that free-heel life, or our tenured telemark skiers who still have their original three-pin leather boots with upwards of 500 layers of beeswax to make them stiff, ATK has you covered. The Newmark Lite Telemark binding brings NTN simplicity, durability, and ease of adjustment to the Telemark world. With a backcountry weight, this stout aluminum and stainless-steel binding reduces moving parts (no fiberglass plates to splinter) and provides a sleek uphill and downhill transition. An adjustable emergency release on the toe provides 2 lock-in retentions, soft and hard, and comes with multiple spring spacers should you need a stiffer flex. Whether you're experienced at dropping knees on turns or you look more like you're doing the Charleston with wiggly legs, the ATK Newmark Lite binding is simple, durable, and intuitive to use, improving anyone's proprioception as a free-heel skier.

  • Modern NTN® system, compatible with all NTN® boots.
  • Snowpack Proof System, preventing snow buildup in the binding.
  • Comes with multiple spring spacers to accommodate different stiffness preferences.
  • 1 flat mode, 1 aggressive 28mm riser.
  • Freelock option allows heel to be fixed for AT-style skiing.

Question from Max S

2 questions:
- Is it possible to set this binding up as stiff as a meidjo 3 with recliner springs?
- Freelock option, I'm gonna need more details on that please.

Answer from Matt P

Hey Max,

We do not carry the Meidjo (so no experience with how stiff that spring is), and we haven't done much testing with the Newmark binding yet. We have heard a little feedback on the light spring, but the binding will have a light, regular, and stiff spring option. We haven't heard about the stiff or regular springs.

The Freelock is a tech heel option. It would replace the regular telemark stomp pad and give you the option to ski alpine if your boot has a tech insert in the heel. One thing to note is that the heel does not feature a lateral release.
