Atomic has taken the tried-and-true light-touring platform of the Backland and given it a race-ready upgrade in the Backland Carbon UL boot. Now featuring the industry-standard in transition speed and touring efficiency, the race-style cuff buckle tightens the carbon-fiber upper cuff via a single throw of the ski-walk lever. Unlike similar boots in its class, the Backland Carbon UL features a cable buckle over the instep rather than a twist-lock dial, providing a durable, secure solution to keep your foot in the boot. In trimming up this even faster iteration of the boot, Atomic also replaced the liner with the race-inspired Backland UL 3D Platinum liner. This thinner, more compliant liner reduces overall weight and, importantly, also reduces resistance in walk mode. Despite these weight- and speed-oriented updates, the Backland Carbon UL maintains much of the downhill performance of its big brothers, allowing you to ski even mo'.
