In 1886, the French gifted America the Statue of Liberty, one of the greatest feats in human engineering. In response to this, the town of Boston one-upped them with the construction of the Green Monster at Fenway Park. Some called it an ode to Gustave Eiffel, and some considered it a challenge. 114 years later, the French have finally clapped back with another Green beast, presenting America with the new Black Crows Navis Freebird. The new and improved Navis features a 104mm waist with a progressive tip rocker that planes up nicely in deep snow, an early-rise tail, and classic camber that gives the ski good grip in firm snow. With a fairly straight sidecut, this ski is designed to attack big open faces and handle high speeds. We are also happy to announce that they are lighter than the previous generation! A new skin-fix system, which we have dubbed the Pilus Pass-Through, features a tip clip and a small cutout in the ski tail for a TPU block to feed through, making for easier transitions, a smaller packed skin size, and lighter weight on the uphill. Built for any challenge, the Navis Freebird is an all-mountain ski that delivers confident control across any terrain.

  • Titanal reinforced mounting plate for binding security.
  • New and improved Pilus skins feature notches in the tip and tail to reduce weight and make transitions easier.
  • Stiffness underfoot for stability, with a more progressive flex in the tip for comfort.
  • Meaningful weight reduction makes this new generation more friendly on the ascent.

Question from Brendan S

Pilus Pass-Through? You mean the Hoji Hole?

Answer from Jeff M

Brendan,
Black Crow doesn't have a name for their system, so we made one up.
They aren't using Hoji's name as he designs for Dynafit.
