This is a preliminary review as I have only used this top for 3-4 days skiing at this point, but I am sold. This is the best ski touring-specific top I have owned. It is somewhere between a race top and a general touring jacket. It offers some wind protection and warmth, enough that if I'm doing quick laps I don't feel the need to layer over it. But more importantly, I can skin with it on and not overheat. It is significantly more breathable, and more wind resistant, than my Patagonia R1. It vents extremely well and is very comfortable to wear before and after skiing. No more cold skinning in a base layer or sweating out a shell/mid-layer.
The external skin pocket isn't really big enough for larger skins (it would be great for race skins), but I have found it to be perfect for stashing gloves, hats, buffs, and other miscellaneous items that I keep close to hand but don't necessarily want to wear the whole time.
Overall, the quality of construction, materials, and design are top-notch, and the comfort and function are excellent. And it looks great. At 5'11 and 145lbs, I wear a medium and it is snug and trim without being skintight. The cut is just right - it doesn't ride up under a hip belt, but it's not excessively long. The silicone grip on the hem is a great design feature. I'm very happy that I spent the money this piece.
Crazy Idea Acceleration Pull
There is no speed without acceleration, which is why Crazy Idea has rebranded their ever-popular Cervino products as the Acceleration collection. As the next iteration of the Cervino Ultra, the Crazy Idea Acceleration Pull is the pièce de résistance of Crazy's line of ski touring mid-layers, and for very good reason. It takes more than fancy fabrics to make a technical touring top, which is why the designers added an internal beacon pocket and large external skin dump pocket in conjunction with the two zippered chest pockets.
