A removable brake automatically deploys when rotating the heel into ski mode, or go brakeless with the removal of four screws. Vertical release is set with a fixed-value U-spring to save weight, lateral release is adjustable from 5-12. A very durable bayonet-style heel turret lock leads to long-term durability of this heel piece. Speed step climbing risers are easy to manipulate with pole baskets or handles.
