I need to replace the toe piece on my Alpinist 12s that I purchased in 2021. I know the binding has gone through a few updates since then — is there any reason I shouldn't/couldn't replace with these newer ones?
Also, the site only shows the 8 and 10 toe pieces for sale, do you sometimes stock the 12?
Thanks!
Marker Toe Pieces
Whoops! It seems like the toe piece on your Marker binding(s) is no longer functioning as it should. Fear not o' fearless one, as we have spare toe pieces to resurrect your bindings and make them whole. All toe pieces are sold individually so you need a pair to make a frakenbinding.
Alpinist - A handsome black toe piece with the current ISI system, which facilitates easier step-in. Fully functional with locked uphill and unlocked downhill modes. Comes with the crampon receptor and mounting screws.
Update 2022/23: The Alpinist toe was updated with a rubber bumper and wider platform so less force is required to step in. This added 25 grams.

Hi Nick, it was just one revision to the toe piece in 22/23. New version works just fine with the old heels. Unfortunately, we are out of 12s for the foreseeable future.

Do these toe pieces work well with grip walk boot soles ?

Barry- These toes will work fine as long as the boot has tech fittings.

I have a pair of gold kingpins 10s from a few years ago with the 6 spring toe pieces - one of the toes plastic where the toe lock ratches has broken. Can I use one of these toe pieces with the kingpin 10 heels?
11/10/2025
Eli- Thats not a problem swapping in the Alpinist toe for the Kingpin toe. They even have the same mounting pattern as well.

I have the alpinist demo setup and I'm looking to shave weight off. Do you think it would be worth replacing the demo toes with a regular toe piece?
4/7/2025
Hi Ryan,
If you have the demo version with the adjustable toe pieces on the track, then you could definitely save some weight by going to normal Alpinist toe pieces! Whether it's worth the price or not would be your call, noting that there are Alpinists available for not that much more as brand-new bindings. You would also need to ensure that the hole patterns do not conflict if you plan to replace only the toe pieces.

Hi, I recently broke the toepiece (touring retention lever area of the base) on my Kingpin m-werks. Is the Alpinist toepiece identical? Thanks!

Caleb, Yes, the Alpinist is what is used on the M Werks model.

Hi, I have a set of Marker Kingpin 13s, 2020 (red), and need to replace one of the toepieces. Visually, it seems the Alpinist 12 2021/2022 piece is the most similar, but I'm wondering if you know whether this is the matching toe piece.
3/10/2025
Eli, The Kingpin 13 then used the toe piece with 6 springs in the toe.
Since then, they have switch to the Alpinist toe piece. So you would have a miss matched binding. Or you could replace both.

Hi, what's the difference between the Alpinist 8/10/12 toe-pieces? From product pics they look basically identical hey. Maybe the rubber bumper is a different color on the 8? Is the stiffness of the springs any different? Thanks!
(I have a broken 8 toepiece, but the only replacement available to me at short notice is a 10!).

Hi Rhys, the springs do vary per model so it's best to pair the correct toe and heel so the release indicators line up properly.
