Like the SR Blackbird, the SR skis from Voile are long-range tools, designed to help you tackle the biggest objectives. While not a ski for the dedicated racer, the SR series aims to provide race ski dimensions with a construction that excels everywhere. With more tip rocker than is found on typical race skis, the SR remains composed in soft snow, and when testing the skis in tricky Spring conditions, we found the rockered tips provided predictable navigation through suncupped snow. Ample camber paired with a supportive tail provides a solid feel underfoot without being overbearing, keeping the ski predictable in technical terrain. Utilizing durable steel edges, the SR skis are more than happy to navigate through rocky terrain while the notched tip makes for quick and easy transitions when paired with race skins. Whether doing long traverses, recreational racing, or a mix of both, the SR series is a smart and fun choice.

  • Larger than average tip rocker provides predictability across a wide array of conditions.
  • Hyper construction combines Paulownia and carbon fiber to create a durable and lightweight package.
  • Notched tip plays nicely with all race-oriented skins.
  • Durable steel edges help fend off errant rock strikes.
  • Black p-tex bases are durable and easy to repair.

Question from Alex

Have you folks heard any feedback on the mounting point for these? Factory recommendation working for most people?

Answer from eric

Alex- Mounting point is pretty good on this ski. We do tend to tell people to make sure your toe pin line is forward of balance point. This makes the ski kick turn even better.

Question from Bryan

Having a hard time deciding between the SR Race Ski and the Mezzalama. I would use these mostly for inbound fitness laps and a few local skimo races. Currently on the Vastus Freebird (discontinued) and I appreciate the ski-ability but seems like it’s a bit of a master of none. Looking to upgrade to one of the above without having to go a full blown ultralight race ski. Boots are Alien 1.0. Thanks! For reference, I’m 5’9”, 150lbs, endurance athlete.

Hey Bryan,

The Mezzalama and the Voile are going to be the most skiable race skis out of the bunch. I would say that the Mezzalama has slightly better edge hold, while the Voile initiates turns a little easier. It's also pretty hard to beat the new topsheet on this Voile!

The "special" edition P-Delics simply get you higher faster than the stuffy graphics found on buttoned up Euro skis. The downhill performance is an unbelievable trip! As agile as a dancing bear! Inspired by the red-blinkers and multi-colored mushroom flags which light up Tuesday night Utah Skimo events...."Spent the night in Utah in a [pain] cave in the hills." (Grateful Dead "Friend of the Devil.")

This is a major upgrade to the WSP. There is slightly more mass (my pair is under 800gms, as opposed to Skimo.co's testing), but this not noticeable on the uphill compared to my WSP's. The construction is the same, but the tip and tail dimensions are a bit wider than the WSP, which makes the downhills feel considerably more stable, and what feels torsionally stronger. The sidecut is tighter and the ski turns on a dime. This ski has a very robust camber, and I find that skiing the camber very hard (aka, staying strong and neutral as opposed to driving the tips or riding the tails super-hard) allows the ski to behave at its best. The tip rocker certainly helps with skiing faster in choppy conditions. Compared to lighter WC level/top of line race skis which I have owned, these are the dampest, and most enjoyable to ski in mixed, technical terrain, where top level skimo skis can be somewhat unforgiving. Don't forget that you have to ski down in skimo racing!!

Woohoo! Curious about the specs on these. The WSP is my all time favorite ski.
