The Mammut Haute Route Helmet is designed to be the only head protection you need for all your mountain escapades. Boasting full certification for climbing, biking, and skiing, the Haute Route Helmet is equally useful during spring mountaineering season, mid-winter powder harvesting, and biking into summer ski objectives. Large front vents and internal channels encourage air to move throughout the helmet, keeping you cool while climbing and battling the deluge of sweat from forming on your brow. On colder days, you can add the included lightweight beanie under the helmet to help keep your noggin warmer and happier. The helmet stays secure and comfortable on your head due to the 360° spherical wheel adjustment system that provides even and consistent tension. Elastic straps on the back and side of the helmet keep goggles secure and work with front-facing headlamp clips to keep your lighting from sliding or bouncing during dawn/dusk missions. Whether touring, skimo racing, riding in-bounds, rock climbing, or cycling into an objective, the Mammut Haute Route Helmet will keep your thinking organ safe, protected, and happy.

Picked up this helmet earlier this year to add a little more foam over the trusty Petzl Sirocco. So far it has been excellent! A little more heft which installs confidence when racing down Brighton moguls at night. Vents well enough that I've gotten mild brain-freeze on some colder night laps (though the included beanie helps this). The shock cord and headlight mounts keep my petzl headlamp locked in and work great for goggles. Only slight is that the included foam pads could be a tiny bit thicker to help with fit. Very happy with this helmet overall and would recommend!

Question from goatse

what fabric is the beanie made out of?

Answer from Niko M

Hi Goatse!
It's a pretty thin blend of polyester (88%), and elastane (12%). Very comfortable, especially under the helmet. Nice touch, Mammut!

Question from Kevin

1. How does the ventilation of this helmet compare to the Smith Summit for wearing on the uphill?

2. Any word if there will be a version with MIPS?

Answer from Carlos M

Hi Kevin,

1) Compared to the Smith, the ventilation is pretty similar overall. The Mammut helmet has a bit more venting at the rear of the helmet, but on top of the head and in the front, ventilation ports are very similar.

2) There are rumors of a MIPS version of this helmet coming next season - stay tuned!

Question from Travis N

Any notes on fit? Oval (Giro) vs. Round (Bell)? Any reason to pick this over others in this space?
11/20/2024
Answer from Emmett I

Hi Travis,

These fit more oval shaped. I would say fit is the most important factor, but the headlamp attachment points are very nice. Bungees on the sides, and plastic tabs close together in the front. If you're looking to use a headlamp often, the Haute Route would be a great option. It's also a great price for a triple-cert helmet.
