Pomoca Free Pro Skins
For intrepid adventurers who value all-around performance, lightness, and packability, Pomoca created the Free Pro skin. Like the Free Pro 2.0, the Free Pro skins are constructed using an extremely light and thin backing material, allowing them to be unobtrusively stowed during technical descents. The glue is specially formulated for cold North American winters, ensuring reliable adhesion on frigid and technical objectives. Helping your svelte skins remain svelte, the PFAS-free Ever Dry 3.0 hydrophobic treatment resists the uptake of moisture into the plush, reducing glopping and preventing your skin glue from getting contaminated. Finally, the revised Power Hook tail clip is virtually unbreakable while the universal tip ensures seamless use with almost all skis. If you value packability, weight savings, and performance in your climbing skins, the Free Pro skins from Pomoca won't disappoint.
- Safer Skin Ultra Light backing material reduces packing size and weight.
- Ever Dry 3.0 treatment helps reduce skin glop to keep you at your best.
- Power Hook tail clip is engineered to be virtually unbreakable.
- Glide treatment ensures you move quickly on flat terrain.
- Universal Tip pairs seamlessly with a variety of Pomoca and Dynafit hardware.
***With the new Pomoca metal power hook, we recommend sizing up in length if the ski is close to the max length.

Questions & Reviews
I've never used a race skin in a comparable size, but these skins glide quite well. It's hard to imagine that a race skin (cut to the same width) could glide much better than this. I also own a pair of the S-Glides, and I can't tell a difference in glide between the two sets of skins. Where the FreePro and S-Glide differ is in uphill traction. That said, if you are an experienced backcountry skier who understands good skintrack form, you shouldn't be held back by these skins. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to a less-experienced skier also, as they will teach you better skinning habits.
The reduction in packing size as opposed to other mohair mix skins makes these a game changer for anyone on wider skis. The thinner material is notably easier to fold and pack away into a pocket when they are not in use. Other brands have attempted to make thinner skins like these (Black Diamond Ultralight), but they end up being too floppy, which makes them hard to apply and remove from your skis.
Some folks have commented that the durability of the FreePro's is lacking compared to other skins, I haven't found that to be the case. I do tend to wax my skins pretty regularly, I avoid skinning over rocks and sharp sticks, and I religiously dry my skins out at the end of the day. I also really try to avoid exposing the skins to any form of extreme heat. Doing all that, my oldest pair of FreePro's is well in to its fifth season of use.
Pamoca really has a winner here with the FreePro climbing skin. While they are one of the most expensive options on the market, I think that I will continue to buy these over other options for the foreseeable future.
What type and size of pomoca skins would you recommend for a Faction La Machine Mega 3 in 178cm (profile: 132-109-124)?
I ski mostly in colorado and bc - january through may/june.
Cheers,
Tom
The Pomoca Free Pro is what I would recommend for skis 105mm and wider!
These skins share the same glue as Pomoca's other standard North American skins, and the previous 2.0's. The listing isn't meant to indicate that the glue is new, just that it is specifically formulated for the North American market. Compared to the glue that Pomoca uses on their skins in Europe, the North American glue is stickier, to account for colder temperatures that are more common here.
The plush and glue did not change for the update. Rather, the difference is that the new version (Free Pro) has the updated universal tip attachment and the metal Power Hook (replaces the older plastic tail clip. Basically, the attachments changed, and the name!
are these skins 100% mohair or are they a blend?
