Packing a lot of the performance of their Backland Carbon cousins, the Backland Expert Boot from Atomic is geared for those who want a touring boot that just works. The 74° range of motion, combined with the frictionless cuff pivots, rewards even the most flexible of ankles as you make short work of ridiculously steep skinners. Once atop your objective, getting into ski mode is easy and intuitive with the Free/Lock 4.0 ski/walk lever. Since options are all the rage, you can easily select between 13°, 15°, and 17° forward leans, allowing you to dial in your stance to fit your needs. For a reliable boot that is easy to get along with, the Atomic Backland Expert is hard to miss.

  • Frictionless Pivots are replaceable and allow for oh-so-sweet skin track efficiency.
  • Free/Lock 4.0 ski/walk mechanism is simple to operate and secure for the way down.
  • Liner is washable with soap and water, helping ensure you don't harbor unwanted bacteria.
  • Cross Lace 2.0 closure system locks your foot down for confidence while descending.
  • Memory Fit shell allows an experienced bootfitter to shape the shell to your unique foot.
  • Forward lean can be easily changed to help you dial in your stance.

Question from Kyle

Got any info on sizing? I run a size 10 snowboard boot. And ran a dynafit speed fit n 27.5 that was a touch too snug. I will be splitboarding in these and trying to determine 27.5 vs 28.5. Thanks in advance.

Answer from eric

Kyle- The best way to know what shell size is to measure your foot in centimeters and thats your shell size. I would bet in this case you would be in the 27.5 shell size.

Hi James, unfortunately the Backland Expert boots are not MNC/Shift compatible. The XTD version is, however.

Question from James

Hi, what is the last width for the Atomic Backland Expert Boot?

I'm seeking something close to my downhill boots Salomon Falcon Pro CS which (I believe are) are 98mm.

Answer from Will McD

Hi James,

We've been told these boots claim a 98mm last, but keep in mind that, like flex ratings, last numbers are often unreliable and frequently measured in different places from boot to boot.

Question from Evan

Hi, what is the stiffness of this boot equivalent to compared to the other Atomic backland cousins? I can’t find too much information on this variant online. Thank you!

Answer from Jeff

Evan, They aren't assigned arbitrary numbers. These are fairly soft, best for smaller skiers or splitboarders looking for flex.
