Dynafit Mezzalama Polartec Alpha Jacket
When humanity first shed its furry overcoat as a species, they surely had little idea that their descendants would spend their free time striding up mountain ranges with wooden planks strapped to their feet. Though ski touring is hardly a replacement for persistent hunting, you can be grateful to your Hominid ancestors for allowing you the chance to enjoy Dynafit’s Mezzalama Polartec Alpha Jacket. Polartec Alpha is a miracle insulating material that is simultaneously water repellent, wind-resistant and breathable, making it ideal for layering over a race top or other light garb on cold, wet, or windy days. A tight-fit hood snugs down over your ears to protect them from Jack Frost’s worst, while twin zippered front pockets keep your cargo sorted as you climb. Besides its application for midwinter day tours, this jacket’s light weight and packability make it equally at home temporarily stashed in your pack on big objectives where base camp and summit are drastically different temperatures. This update to the Mezzalama Alpha retains the construction and small touches that made it a perennial SkimoCo shop favorite. We think the Australopithecines (and you!) would be fond of it as well.
- Stretch inserts move when you do.
- Dedicated smartphone pocket zips away your distraction device.
- Polartec Alpha filling supplies weatherproof warmth without saturating the wearer in sweat.
- Thumb holes let your wrists join the Polartec party. Also prevents sleeves from rising up arms as you move.
- Reflectors make you eminently spottable.
Update 2023/24: Dynafit updated the Dawn color to a more sophisticated shade of Dawn.

Questions & Reviews
At 6'2"/185lbs, I was tempted to order a large. But I trusted the sizing chart and the US medium ended up being a perfect fit.
Yes, I just tried it with a Petzl Sirocco and it's a snug fit but it works just fine!
I typically wear it over a thermal weight grid fleece and airshed pro wind shirt for the perfect layering combination. It's also worth noting that the jacket has high pockets, which don't interfere with my backpack's waist strap.
