The Contour Guide Mix 2.0 skins are an update to a trusted and dependable classic. Keeping the same time-tested and extremely reliable glue formula as its predecessor, the Guide Mix 2.0 features a thinner backing material, which decreases its weight and increases packability. The backing material has also been purposefully engineered to resist water absorption, ensuring the skins remain light on your feet, even in spring conditions. The 65-35% nylon-mohair blend finds a compelling combination of durability, grip, and glide. With a reliable but easy-to-work-with glue, plush that provides all-around performance, and a thin and lightweight backing material, the Guide Mix 2.0 skins from Contour are one of the best options available.

  • Guide glue is a Skimo staff favorite for its dependability, ease of use, and because it doesn't leave residue on your skis. Woohoo!
  • Backing material has been engineered to be thin, packable, and durable.
  • 65-35 nylon-mohair mix provides all-around climbing performance.
  • Tail clip has a "sleek" design and pairs well with most touring skis.

Bought a set a couple weeks ago after needing a new set of skins and liking my OG guides i bought last season (different ski set up). I give these a 9/10 for the uphill grip, 9/10 on the packability, and 6.5/10 on the glide. Glue ranking is TBD pending longer use but initial impressions are good. Toured with these in several kinds of snow since i bought them. Very impressed right out the gate of the uphill grip to weight and bulk ratio. Probably one of the best grip wise ive had out of the few brands i have owned. They pack down small enough to fit in smaller hand pockets on my hybrid jacket for skis that are 175cm and 114 width. For me grip and packability are the two biggest factors along side glue durability. They've stuck to bases well even with some snow on the glue. Glide was improved when waxing the skins per Contours recommendations. Overall very impressed.

Question from Chris Neefus

I’m look for replacement mohair strips for vintage Rossignol Antelope XC skis. The self adhesive strips would be 10.5mm wide by 60cm long. Two per ski. I’ve been able to modify some Fischer Twin Skin strips, but they are not ideal.

Do you have anything that would work better?

Hi Chris,

To cut a custom size skin we offer off the roll options such as Ski Trab mohair, or we also have specific Contour cross country skins which are much thinner. Either option might better suit your purposes.

How does the guide compare in weight and packability to Pomoca Free 2.0?

Answer from BlackBird

Hi Ethan,

The Free Pro probably still wins by a hair in the weight/packability category, but in my experience, the Contour glue and grip are superior by a fair margin.

Anecdotally, the new Guide 2.0 feels remarkably similar to the Free Pro right out of the box.

Question from Justin

How do people like that big tapered cut at the tip of the skins? I know you don't need full coverage up there but I worry it's almost too much of a bikini cut.... If got some for my 179 Wayback 106s would I need the 135mm width or could I get away with the 115s?

Answer from Matt P

Hey Justin,

The tapered tip is quite good at keeping snow out! And for the Wayback 106, I would recommend getting the 135mm width for full coverage.

Question from Ben

How does the guide mix 2.0 skin compare to the hybrid mix skin? It looks like the guide mix cant be cleaned using the cleaning spray but the hybrid mix can, is that the main difference? How does the glue compare with these 2 skins? Looking for something that wont stick later in the season like the Pomoca does. Also if the widest part of my ski is 126 (Tip) would I choose the 115mm or the 135mm?

Answer from Emmett I

Hi Ben, the Guide vs Hybrid refers to the glue, correct. The guide glue is a traditional hot melt like most other skins on the market (Pomoca, Black Diamond G3, so on). Plenty sticky, and you'd need to reglue it if it got too dirty. The Hybrid is much less sticky and requires care on days with lots of transitions, but very easy to clean, and ripping them off your skis and peeling them apart is pretty effortless.
