ATK Haute Route Plus Binding
The ATK Haute Route Plus is the flag bearer in the "Lean" binding category that we made up. Skipping the brakes while offering multiple risers and fully adjustable release and sole length, the Plus offers just the right features at a compelling weight. Since it's all exquisitely machined and assembled by ATK in Italy, this is arguably the most refined binding for ski tourers looking to put in many laps in comfort. The Cam Release System features independent heel pins that can track to the outside for easy step-in and consistent release. Multiple heel risers have magnets in them so they stay in place when you're traipsing around varying terrain. The 30mm adjustment tracks accommodate your boot quiver. An all-metal construction with the latest bells and whistles from the leading craftspeople makes the ATK Haute Route Plus a great choice for your backcountry adventures.
- All-metal build is impressively machined out of aerospace aluminum for long-term usage.
- Double magnetic heel risers flip into place without needing to rotate the heel.
- Included (but optional) heel adjustment plate provides a 30mm range for various boot sole lengths.
- Cam Release System means the vertical release works reliably while remaining easy to step in.
- Made in Italy by ATK.
Update 2024/25: ATK swapped in their new "Speed Toe Piece" with snow blocking and higher toe pins, slightly reducing the pin delta. At the heel, the pins have been laser etched with a 4mm gap for easier adjustment and the Release Value window was altered to help visualize non-integers. Finally, the riser heights were tweaked to enlarge the height difference between the two flaps when the pins face backward and the top flap is higher when the pins face forward.

Questions & Reviews
The 24/25 model does include the updated "Speed Toe Piece". Although the intent behind the new toe is to reduce the pin delta and block snow, we may also see improved durability due to the increased construction. Apologies for the picture confusion. The photos including the Trofeo like toe is in reference to the 23/24 model. Thanks!
The Haute Route Plus comes with steel screws. You could use a 12.5mm Dynafit titanium screw here.
Not easily. If you can find one of the older Universal Freeride Spacers those would work, or you could DIY one with cork or plastic. Or you could check out the Slatnar ST Touring Binding, similar concept but with an integrated spacer.
Is there any other potential difference in quality between Haute Route and Raider, other than brakes and elastic heel travel?
Thanks
The 4 mm gap in these and other bindings has proved to be sufficient, and unless you are someone who can really flex a skis, the elastic travel does not really come into play. Other then that, the quality is the same as all the parts are the same. The Haute Route use the lighter Race toes.
This binding does not have rearward elastic travel, the heel position is adjustable along a track but is not springloaded.
Bindings like this HR have a race style 4 bolt base, in this case, mounted on a flat metal adjustment plate.
Bindings with elastic heel travel have a sculped composite base, that houses the spring for the length compensation. Have a look at the Kuluar, RT and Raiders and you’ll see the difference.
Thats a good level.
If you want to shim more, it is the Crest Toe shim, we are currently out of.
This is one of the best options for people who hate rotating their heel pieces! If you rotate it when you transition so that the pins are facing backward, you can flip between flat, first, and second riser heights with your pole and never have to reach down. Or, you can even run it with the pins forward and still have both riser heights, although you will not have a flat mode that way.
