Question from Aaron F

Are the Dynafit PDG heels compatible with the Dynafit Speedfit toe piece?
3/8/2020
Answer from TSB

Hey Aaron, the PDG heel/Speedfit toe combo would give you a -2.5mm ramp angle, which would be a little too far back on the heels for most folks. Consider running an LTR 2.0/PDG heel adjustment plate, which would add 5mm of thickness under the heel and give you a +2.5 mm ramp angle.

Question from Alain Côté

I Have a pair of Radical ST bindings dating from some time between 2011/2012 and 2015. The heel piece top plate is lifting off on of them, so I need to replace the entire heel turret, says Dynafit. I don't see it in your list of heel pieces. Is it possible to get this?

Thanks

Answer from Teddy Young

I have an old pair of radical FTs and my heelpiece finally gave out. Can I just replace with the radical STs that you are currently selling? Thanks.

Answer from TSB

Jason, yes, they are interchangeable with a little bit of mechanical know-how! Radical ST and FT utilize the same heel piece.

Just double checking to make sure the Radical FT binding heel piece you sell is the same as mine...
11/3/2019
Answer from Teddy Young

Hey Ryan, sorry for the binding troubles! We have the Radical ST in stock right now, but not the Radical FT. The Radical FT 2.0 that is showing in the drop down menu currently is the newer generation.

Any problems running Dynafit Speed Radical heels with Kingpin toes?
10/7/2019
Answer from Jeff

Mike, people have been mixing toe and heel pieces together for years, without much issue. Toes do not have a release value, even the 6 spring Kingpin toes. So go for it. Myself and Skimo are not responsible for the contents of this comment!

Question from Simon

I have Dynafit Expedition bindings - without rotation release at the heel. Can I replace the heel piece with a compatible heelpiece with rotation release?
8/7/2019
Answer from Jeff

Simon, Yes you can. You can use any of these and it will work fine. The toe piece with the Expedition is the Radical steel toe. The Speed Radical heel will give you a solid binding.

I happen to have a pair of Speed Radical toes, from late 2017. Any concerns with adding a pair of Speed Radical heels and making a full binding out of it?

Answer from jbo

Hi Anton, no major concerns, two toes and two heels make a full binding, as designed!

I broke the yoke piece on my Vertical ST bindings in addition to some plastic piece that didnt effect performance. With the yoke gone, the pins dont stay locked in my boot. Can i straight replace this older heel binding with the radical st version?
3/12/2019
Answer from Jeff

Jonah, The Radical heel will not work with the Vertical base plate. You would have to replace both. Then have a somewhat mismatched binding.

I ripped the rotating part off my dynamite rotation st 10 bindings.I need to replace the whole heal assembly. Are the brakes transferable? If not I will need a brake with the heal piece for a 105 mm ski.Do you have one?
3/7/2019
Answer from jbo

Hi Brian, the heel housing and baseplate/brake are separate parts. Depending on your situation, you may be able to reuse one of those parts. You can e-mail us photos if you'd like specific assistance.

Question from George

Hello - I have a pair of Radical 2.0's in 105. On one of them, the heel piece keeps working backward while skiing until the separation between the boot heel and the two prongs on the Dynafit heel piece gets so wide that the binding releases. When I then adjust the screw to move the heel back into place, it feels like there is little to no tension on the screw. It seems to be happening with only one of my two skis. Is this a known problem? Dynafit suggested I purchase a new baseplate. Do you agree?

Thanks in advance for the help.
3/6/2019
Answer from jbo

Hi George, yes it sounds like something is broken in the baseplate/brake combo. Those are available here.

Question from Ned

Hey,

Have a pair of fischer branded Dynafit Beast 16s, but just learned that I won’t be able to use the Hojis I was gifted with them. Would the radical 2 FT heel pieces work, or do you have another recommendation?
11/29/2018
Answer from Trace Leches

Hey Ned! That's a good gift! Not sure if the Beast 16 toe and Radical 2 heel have ever been "officially" cleared to work with one another. I suppose technically they would, but who knows what kind of release characteristics you'll end up with if you mix that combo, all I can do is speculate at this point.

Question from Pico

Parts query: I just broke off the plastic "shelf" on a Dynafit Vertical heel piece. Dynafit says they have no spare parts available. Would you happen to have a Vertical heel piece for parts in your bone yard?
5/4/2018
Answer from Trace Leches

Hey Pico! Looks like we're out at the moment and probably for the foreseeable future. The good news is that we have a Used Dynafit Parts page that's worth keeping an eye on. Worst case, the Vertical heel hole pattern matches up with the Speed Radical and Speed Turn heel pieces so a full blown replacement wouldn't be the end of the world.

Question from Adrian B

I have a broken Radical ST heel as in the picture. I would like to buy a replacement, but as far as I heard damages on this model are quite frequent. What other heel piece is compatible with this one? Thank you!
2/7/2018
Answer from Nate

Hi Adrian, for the number of Radical ST bindings that have been sold over time, they actually have a decent track record of performance. The design and most of the bindings out there are getting on in age and are probably ready for retirement so it's not a shock when a heel breaks from time to time but the parts are still pretty available and worth replacing.

As for compatibility, there really isn't anything that's cross compatible as a drop in replacement/upgrade. Only the Radical ST heel pieces will be compatible with the base plate that you have pictured.

Hi Nate,

Thank you for your answer.
Which Radical ST? 1 or 2.0?

Answer from jbo

Hi Adrian, Nate is referring to the 1.0 version, which you have.

Question from jake lyman

Hey, I have some old old Radical FT bindings, with the black plastic volcanos, and my heel piece broke. I would love to fix them, or jerry rig something by getting another headpiece which would be compatible. Any help? Screw pattern is the standard dynafit pattern, or something like that. Thanks!!
2/4/2018
Answer from jbo

Hi Jake, if you mean Vertical FTs (the ones with volcanoes), you can get replacement roofs (speed or comfort plates) from B&D. Note you'll also need the volcanoes if you go with comfort plates. Other than that, you're looking at new heel pieces.

Thanks JBO!! I think I'll just get a new heelpiece, the speed turn 2.0's, and make a mutant binding. Thanks!!

Question from Mark Mueller

Good morning,
I've broken my Dynafit Radical ST heel piece (about 2 years old). I'd like to order a new one, but don't know which to choose; Radical ST or Radical ST 2.0? Thanks for the help.
I've broke several of these heels over the last couple of years where the top portion with the pins attaches to the lower part of the binding. Do you know, is this problem common or rare? Thanks.
1/19/2018
Answer from Nate

Hi Mark, it sounds likely that you have a Radical ST binding. If it is all black and gray, you have a Radical ST, if there is some green and bronze color to it, you have a Radical ST 2.0. We currently have both in stock, and you can select the one you need from the drop down menu above.

I'm sorry to hear that you've broken several of these. It seems that if there is going to be a failure of the Radical ST binding, that the heel piece is the weakest link. That being said, we have many customers who have never had a problem so it seems to be hit or miss as to whether or not its an issue.

Question from Toby W

Hello from Kyrgyzstan. I am here for the winter and have q question for you. I have a pair of Fischer Hannibal 94 with Dynafit TLT Radical 2.0 bindings. The ski is light but the bindings are not as I am now skiing on the set up I bought from you this summer. I am skiing with a pair of Fischer Carbon Ski Mo boots I bought from you. I want to ski the Hannibals at times with these boots and am considering putting a pair of Superlight 2.0 heels on the skis (with Quiver Killers). What do you think? How do you think they would do with the TLT Radical 2.0 toe pieces as I dont really want to replace those too. I think the pattern of the two heel pieces is the same.
So there you have it. Thanks, Toby Wheeler
12/15/2017
Answer from Trace Leches

Hey Toby! Ha, it's tough to go back to heavy gear once you get a taste of the good stuff isn't it?

Officially the Radical 2.0 toe is only compatible with the Radical 2.0 heel because of the forward pressure/rotating plate. The Rad 2.0 toe has seriously soft toe springs (intentionally) to help with the lateral release factors, so it could potentially give you some really low release values. Short answer: I wouldn't do it. If you're looking at lightening up then I'd say just sell the old binding and start from square one with a complete Superlite 2.0.

Question from Joe

I am looking to swap heel pieces from speed turns to speed radicals, is the stack height/pin height the same and toe piece compatibility the same that it will be an easy swap? Thanks.
11/22/2017
Answer from jbo

Hi Joe, yes they are pretty much interchangeable. Same pin heights and mounting patterns.
